#ohj OLD HIPPIE JUJU

                          1967 SUMMER OF LOVE

"In the land of the dark, the ship of the sun is driven by the Grateful Dead"
~quote from the original cover design of the 1967 album

The land is dark.
The ship of the sun
driven by the grateful dead,
driven far from the addled winds of war
driven far from the rising nebula of nam
lead the grateful who really are grateful
and summer changes.

Hipsters of haight flower
in the haight of summer. And in the heat
in the haight lives a beat
that nobody need approve.
Down low is the flowering
where the beat goes on―and the beat
goes on.

#OHJ HIPPIE MINDSET

"PAWPRINTS"

#OHJ (occupy hippie jargon):
to do this think communis1
aurea mediocritas2 and Horace;
think of the medium at work
in the mode and the mode, poetic.

Psyche-making occupies itself
and this is the way at work
in cosmos; the middle way at work
is a sacred economy that works
for everybody.

#ohj: YAFFLE

1969:  Yaffle

A spring green rain sensed in 1969,
singing the body

under the clothesline
where the tie-dye hangs
the yaffle sits in the tall May grass.

She yaffles a laugh full, a rainsong
singing the body electric on and on.

And we rush to the line
to carry in out of the rain our artwork
carry it under our arms by the armful

And, in this way, I suppose
we are called to yaffle, too.
